Google's AI Search Console reports and opt-out toggle are now global

The AI performance report and its opt-out toggle, previously limited to a handful of markets, are now available to every Search Console property worldwide. Our own data shows global availability does not guarantee the report has anything to show.

Google has updated its Search Console documentation to add one line: "As of August 31, 2026, we've rolled out this control to all websites worldwide." That closes a rollout that spent months limited to a subset of markets. The AI performance report and its companion opt-out toggle are now live for every Search Console property, not a shortlist of countries.

What the report shows

  • Impressions inside AI Overviews, AI Mode, and AI features in the Discover feed, broken down by page, country, device, and date.

  • No click data. Google has never added clicks, CTR, or query-level data to this report.

  • A toggle to opt a site out of AI Overviews, AI Mode, and AI Overviews in Discover. Opted-out sites lose traffic and impressions from those features specifically. Google says the setting is not used as a ranking signal for regular search results.

What global access does not guarantee

We had this report live on several of our own properties well before this week's announcement, and one of them still has never shown it. The report only exists once a property has logged actual gen-AI impressions. Zero impressions means no report, not an empty one. One of our UAE properties, with 687 impressions and an average position of 19.3 over its trailing 12 months, has never logged a single AI impression and has nothing to show for the global rollout either.

So the announcement changes who is eligible for the toggle and the report. It does not change whether a site earns enough AI citations to populate one.

The obvious follow-up question is whether any of this comes with API access. Neither this announcement nor Google's original documentation for the feature mentions one. The data stays inside the Search Console UI, same as it has since launch.

Frequently asked questions

Does the AI performance report include an API?+

No. Neither this announcement nor Google's documentation for the feature mentions an API. The report is accessible only inside the Search Console UI.

Does opting out of AI Overviews and AI Mode hurt regular search rankings?+

Google says no. The opt-out control removes a site from AI Overviews, AI Mode and AI Overviews in Discover specifically, costing it traffic and impressions from those features, but it is not used as a ranking signal for standard search results.
