Google's Generative AI Report Is Now Live for Every Search Console Property

The rollout finished on 11 August. It counts impressions inside AI Overviews and AI Mode, and the most useful thing in it is whether it appears for you at all.

Google's Generative AI performance reports finished rolling out globally on 11 August 2026. Any Search Console property that has been surfaced in AI Overviews, AI Mode or the generative features in Discover now has the report, with no pilot access to request. The reports first launched on 3 June for a small set of markets.

What the report gives you

  • Impressions inside AI Overviews and AI Mode, in a Search view, plus a separate view for Discover

  • Filters for URL, country, device and date range

  • Data as far back as 18 May 2026, which is the backfill floor for every property

What it holds back

  • No clicks and no query data. You can see that a page was used in an AI answer without knowing what was asked or whether anyone came through.

  • No API and no BigQuery export. We re-verified this against the Search Console API on 12 August: the type enum is still WEB, IMAGE, VIDEO, NEWS, DISCOVER, GOOGLE_NEWS, and every AI-named type, dimension and search-appearance value returns a 400. Manual CSV export is the only way to get the data out.

What this means for you

The most useful signal in this report is whether you have one. Availability is gated by data rather than by market. We checked it across four properties: three have the report and one does not, and the one without it has 687 impressions over twelve months and has never been cited. Two properties in the same country split on it, which rules out geography as the cause. So the report appearing at all tells you Google has surfaced your site in an AI feature at least once since 18 May.

One trap worth knowing before you export. The Filters.csv in a Generative AI export records Search type: Web, identical to a plain web-search export. Cross-check the Pages file against what is on screen, otherwise an AI number gets filed as ordinary web search.

Because there is no API, nothing backfills once a window closes. Take a snapshot of the report now, even if you have no plan for it yet.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my property have no Generative AI report?+

The report is gated by data. A property with zero impressions in Google's AI features gets no report at all rather than an empty one. If it is missing, Google has not surfaced your site in an AI feature since 18 May 2026.

Can I pull the Generative AI report through the Search Console API?+

No. As re-verified on 12 August 2026, every AI-named type, dimension and search-appearance value returns a 400 from the API, and there is no BigQuery export. Manual CSV export is the only extraction path.

How far back does the data go?+

18 May 2026 is the earliest date available on any property, regardless of when the report appeared for you.
